The inaugural Australian Print Triennial has been outstanding success with 175 entries from round the world in the Print Prize, over 50 artists and speakers gathering, 110 packages sold for the weekend and a capacity audience for the Ampelon Gardens dinner featuring Dog Trumpet and Nicky Crayson.

On Friday night Professor Sasha Grishin announced Raymond Arnold and Graeme Peebles as the joint winners of the Print Prize, awarding $5000 cash, an Art Vault residency and exhibition and an article in Imprint Magazine to each winner.

Venues were full over the weekend with delegates enjoying demonstrations by masters, keynote addresses from the likes of Robyn Archer, Rew Hanks, eX de Medici and panel sessions from artists, curators and printmakers from across Australia.

Guests at the sold out Ampelon Gardens Gala Dinner were entertained by Dog Trumpet, featuring ex Mental as Anything members Pete and Chris Doherty, as well a surprise performance by Robyn Archer who joined Nicky Crayson on stage for an impromptu blues number. MC Helen Healy also acknowledged the ground breaking drivers of the event, Julie and Kevin Chambers, their Art Vault staff, and volunteers for delivering an initiative that has drawn international attention and set the stage for another successful arts event in Mildura.

Five exhibitions, including the Print Prize finalist and the Reg Mombassa’s works, will continue at the ADFA Building, Gallery 25 and the Art Vault for the next 3 weeks.

Families and friends can get involved by taking a stroll through the city heart to view 15 prints and answer questions on a survey that can be collected from The Art Vault or downloaded from the Community section of the website. Completed questionnaires are left at the final destination, The Art Vault, to go in the draw for one of 5 original art prints. The five winners will be announced on 9 November will become the proud owner of an art print by an outstanding Australian print artist.
