Dog Trumpet

Known for his idiosyncratic work for Mambo Graphics, Reg Mombassa (aka Chris O’Doherty) will not only exhibit during the Australian Print Triennial but the award winning artist and musician is also bringing his band Dog Trumpet, a family affair with brother Peter O’Doherty, both former members of iconic Australian band Mental As Anything.
His artworks, made with Master printer, Michael Kempson, are a combination of rural and suburban landscapes and genre pictures with references to popular culture, religion, history and politics. The exhibition will open at The Art Vault on Friday 30 October.
Over the last twenty years as Dog Trumpet they have released six albums with the latest Medicated Spirits released in 2013, nominated alongside Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Boy & Bear, Gossling for the Australian Music Prize Album of the Year Award.
Dog Trumpet will present their sonic alchemy of roots based, folk, pop, country and semi-abstract blues music to guests at the Ampelon Gardens Dinner on Saturday 31 October followed by acclaimed jazz singer, Nicky Crayson and her band.
Tickets are on sale now at and guest will enjoy a three course dinner and regional wines in the company of some of Australia’s leading artists who are in Mildura to engage in a celebration of art printmaking and its significance in modern Australia’s art’s culture -and experience our famous food and wine.
